Chery’s Jetour to see first EV model hit the market in the second half
Jetour, a car brand launched in January 2018 by Chery Holding under Chery Commercial Vehicle, previously said all of its models would have corresponding NEV version, including the PHEV, BEV and FCV.
From the time being, the automaker has planned 11 NEV models in total—the PHEV, BEV and FCV versions for the X70, the X70S and the X90, as well as the PHEV and BEV versions of the Jetour X95 flagship SUV, according to a local media outlet. Of that, the X70S EV, which is to hit the market in the second half of the year, will come out in the first place.
Based on the existing Jetour X70, the X70S EV features few changes in exterior, while is added with a charging port and letters of “EV” at the badge on the front grille.
Inside the vehicle, the X70S EV adopts a rotary electric gear selector coupled with multiple functional buttons.
The new EV will be offered in two types of ranges—401km and 450km with a maximum output of 125kW and peak torque up to 300N·m. Besides, the vehicle is able to run at a top speed of 140km/h.
On June 21, the Jetour X95 officially rolled off the production line at the Kaifeng plant in Henan Province and is scheduled to hit the market in the third quarter of 2019. Moreover, its BEV model will reportedly go on sale next year.
